Description

Station in Blue Flow v7 is the result of a bunch of tests and construction activities for other paintings, still in progress. I had chosen the background pattern for the start of a new painting, since the recent work was not resulting as I expected, and the construction processes were getting to be numerous and entangled.

Using a variety of graphix programs, after some various trials for make a series of 25 concentric circles digitally, I finally settled on the results from a couple of 3D renderings as something on which to base an image. The whole experiment was to envision some scene that had great meaning by using the 25 concentric rings as the focal point and center of that scene.

The surprise came when I decided to isolate and mask the "station" from its background. I rendered a mask from the 3D program, Bryce 7.1 PLE, and clipped the station from its rendered image and then pasted it onto the blue flow background. Not only was it easy so to do, when I laid the station onto the background, there was a 90% match for the flow to move through the center of the station. I was enormously amazed at the match! It was like the two were destined to go together.

So with a small amount of "warping" the background to make it a bit bigger and a perfect fit for the opening, I began work to finish this image. I felt like I was leaving my older and in-progress work in the dust. Perchance that is true, but I do like "making art from art" as a "method of creating art".

This is such an image. But it is the intersection of two other different creative streams. It is my opinion that events like this do not happen very often in an artists career.
