20150306-1970-Ink-and-Wash-Plant-v5

This image was from a 1970 Art class I took. we had one period (about 1.5 hours) to work on this exercise. We had to draw/paint the plant using just pen, ink and ink wash. I guess one would call these a "speed painting" today.

In class, we had just finished learning how to use just values of an ink wash to paint a crumpled paper bag, using just wash values, and no lines. 

In this exercise, my teacher, Ms. Carol Ruby, wanted us to also express "life" and "energy" about the plant in our image. 

I recreated the double matting I used for the image, but it is totally digital now. I uses my smartphone to take the picture of the original. The clouded day with bright filtered sun made the capture so easy. It was the perfect day for that lighting. 

Alas, I have to sell the original in our yard sale, but I do not think it will sell. Anyone here? It is old and a bit wrinkly; it is water color paper, as I remember.
